Tell us a bit about yourself, Rachel…

I am a mum of two lovely boys and the Fashion Director at ELLE Australia. The biggest loves of my life are my family and friends, the magic of art and fashion and travel. I am blessed that my job allows me to enjoy them all.

ELLE Australia’s most recent issue features MIMCO’s seasonal muse, Emily Meuleman. What was the story behind the shoot with Emily?

Emily is such a great mover and we knew she would easily own this story. Emma Kalfus, who styled the story, chose to dress Emily in a cool mix of this season’s must-have pieces; the perfect sweater, the jumpsuit, and the iconic jacket, all worn back with our favourite new MIMCO accessories.

As the Fashion Director at ELLE Australia, how do you convey the magazine's overall messages of female empowerment in the editorials you shoot?

We always keep the ELLE reader in mind; she is smart, spirited, sexy and fun...and can be whoever she wants to be. When planning a story we choose trends, models and locations that speak "to" her not "at" her. We want our readers to feel inspired and excited about our stories not intimidated.

What has been an invaluable piece of advice that you received and passed on?

Always be kind.

What is your approach to accessorising?

I am a collector at heart so I have a very layered approach to accessorising. I mix my old favourites with new, finer pieces and throw on a statement earring or two for something special. I feel I am constantly searching for my next piece.

Who are the women that have inspired you in your life and career?

I am so lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful, inspiring women in both my personal and work life. As well as my beautiful network of family and girlfriends, creative and empowering women like Frida Kahlo, Diana Vreeland, Grace Coddington and Miucca Prada always keep me inspired.
