THE FLEMINGTON DRESS CODE

The spring racing carnival is really starting to heat up, with Flemington just around the corner.

Vydia Rishie shows us how to nail the dress codes for some of our favourite race events.

DERBY DAY

"I have a special place in my heart for monochrome, so Derby Day is one of my favourites at Flemington. Black and white is anything but boring when you play with texture – think lace, silk and metals and you're on the right track!

Derby Day is also the perfect time to experiment with masculine accents. If you don't want to go all-out, brogues and a boater are the perfect accompanying styles for an ultra-feminine dress – don’t be afraid to wear flats to the races."

MELBOURNE CUP

"The holy grail of the carnival, Cup Day is about making a statement. So be bold, take a risk, and of course, have fun with your look! Make your accessories pop against your dress, with a statement headpiece and bold shoes. I love the combination of the Flourish Crown in white (opt for the black version if you have lighter hair!) and the Cloud Nine Heels are perfect for on and off the track.

Finish the look with minimal jewellery – a modern pearl drop will add the perfect feminine touch."

OAKS DAY

"Bring out your feminine side on Oak’s Day. I'm loving mixed-metal headpieces this year – the Strata Crown will add a modern touch to any look.

Shades of pastel pink and blush are always on-trend, but keep it tonal i.e. keep all aspects of your outfit the same colour tone. Achieve a playful and sweet look with rose gold accents and a statement but feminine platform (the Knot Shy Platforms also happen to be very comfortable).

Another great touch for Oak’s Day is to play up on jewels – stack on a statement necklace and bold earrings. I'm obsessed with this rose gold Breeze Chain Choker".
