'70s style

The fashion world continues to wax nostalgic on the '70s – from bohemian free-love,
and "suited-up" tailoring, to the ladies of rock and Studio 54. And while we appreciate it all,
it’s the cosy ponchos, warm earthy tones, suede and a heavy dose of leather patchwork splicing
that have us excited to take a trip uptown this season.

Here's our guide to pulling off a "70s" look that features more than just your mum's bell-bottom jeans.

THROW IT ON

Whilst the humble poncho may make some of us think, (not-so-fondly) of something resembling a spaghetti western film... fear not. There are no references to Clint Eastwood in this season’s soft
and languid throws! They’ve got a new polish thanks to luxe materials and the street style elite’s seal of approval – plus, it’s getting cooler after all and the quickest way to stand out in a crowd
(and warm up) is in bold outerwear.

PATCHWORK DREAMS

A more polished nod to the‘70s arts and crafts movement, patchwork is more pared-down than previous seasons. It’s about mixing up subtle details in your accessories with apparel that revisits
the decade’s penchant for mix-and-match.

THIGH HIGH

Sceptical about pulling off this season’s thigh-high boot trend? Rest assured, a pair in soft, perfectly fitted suede will have you grooving in the right direction. Pair them with anything from
patterned maxis and minis to form fitting denim.
